International Club: A Way To Celebrate Our Differences
Alexis Torres
International Club has been a part of Ronald Reagan for the past three years and continues to blossom into a club that celebrates the students and the world we live in.
What makes International Club Unique?
“I think the fact that we try to bring awareness to the different cultures that we have at school and try to celebrate our students.” - Profe Gonzalez How International Club came to be with Profe Gonzalez:
Meet One Of The Members ALEXUS ALEMAN
When did you join International Club? “I joined last year.” (This would be her Junior year) What made you want to join International Club? “I’ve always been really into learning about everyone and things around the world and like languages are important to me. Like communication and I feel like, me in this club doing the things that we do is really important.” What does International Club mean to you? “To me it’s a club that is important to the school. I feel that it’s important for us to share everything about the world. Obviously everyone knows about the world but like the specific things we put out there more important.” What would you tell a student that is considering to join International Club? “I would tell them to join. We need a lot of people" because at the moment the club only has about ten members that consistently come to meetings. |
Ways they spread the word:

"Rumble: The Indians That Rocked The World" On November 17, 2017, International Club held a free movie night in the library. The movie featured was “Rumble: Indians That Rocked The World.” The movie was about the role of Native Americans in popular music history. There were many people that came out in support of the International Club’s movie night — including students and people from the community. Which was good because they were also able to eat food that some of the members were able to make. This included traditional Indian and non-Indian dishes — that were able to be consumed by either paying $2 or donating a non-perishable food item to their fundraiser.
In summary, International Club has become more efficient and effective when it comes to addressing and celebrating different cultures and ethnicities.
