The MAGA Hat with Superpowers
How Kanye West feels like Superman
Written By Rebeca Acosta

Kanye West wore a Make America Great Again hat that makes him “feel like superman” to the invitation of President Donald Trump for lunch to discuss prison reform and other issues. During the visit, West gave a monologue, a long speech about the special feeling the hat gave him as opposed to Hillary’s campaign in the 2016 Presidential Elections. He also mentions the history of what Black lives of stereotypes look like. In the end, West describes his gratitude toward the MAGA and how it makes him feel like Superman.
At the start of the speech, West begins to link a story of African Americans. He states that society “expects that if your Black, you have to be democrat”, leading it to welfare. He says that “it's a limit to amount of jobs.” West is saying that because of race and political belief, jobs opportunities are limited to Black Democrats. “So, the fathers lose the jobs…” implies that different beliefs and race are the reason why these fathers lose their jobs. “And they say, ‘We'll give you more money for having more kids in your home.” When West stated this, he said “they”. Who are they? The companies, the government, or the person itself? Back in 2005 of September, West said that George W. Bush doesn't care about Black people. Because of West past experience, he could have implied that the government gives money to poor fathers which in this case would be Trump, not Bush.
In 2016, West was admitted to a mental health institution in California. During the speech at the White House, Kanye said “and then we got rid of the mental-health institutes.” His bias towards mental health has affected him to saying that in a way where he understands that he too was apart of getting rid of aids. He spoke openly about his hospitalization in hopes to show how important mental health is. West was suffering from exhaustion and sleep deprivation. Mental illness has affected him. During Trump’s campaign in the 2016 Presidential Election, Trump had made fun of children with disabilities. So why is it that West supports Trump even if he knows how tremendous disabilities can affect someone?
Because he wears the MAGA Hat, West feels like superman. Superman, West favorite superhero who can overcome all obstacles because of his strength. He also feels like that the male energy that Trump gives off “is beautiful” since his parents split up and he had not known that role model of a male. Is President Trump a role model? West thinks so because the hat is a sign of “bravery” but to what? Bravery is only the the thing that is West says he “loves everyone.” But it seems that the only thing he loves is “the power” that West describes from wearing a MAGA hat. “You made a Superman, you made a Superman cape.”
In the end, the hat has a meaning to all of us. To West it is his haven and ascendancy but to others it is a sign of the influence that some words on a hat have to the world because not everyone agrees with that fact that the hat is the power of Superman.

It’s only LGBT
Written By Alex Romero
The LGBT community has been seen as open and accepting to all who come, yet maybe we have become too accepting.
LGBT has been an acronym that stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender. More recently, people have decided to add on more letters such as Q(questioning), A(Ally or Asexual), P(pansexual), and almost every other letter of the alphabet!
Controversial Identities and Why They Are Toxic
As I’ve talked to many people through the months, many are irritated by the more recent labels being accepted. Why? Well because things such as a He/Him lesbian, Demiboy (someone whose gender identity is only partly male, regardless of their assigned gender at birth. They may or may not identify as another gender in addition to feeling partially a boy or man.), and Space Gender. Many of these greatly unheard of but are making a push to be accepted which creates a toxic environment, sure they may seem harmless but overall cause chaos and make people in the community look like a joke.
Tucutes and Dysphoria
Many people with these identities believe that to be transgender you DO NOT need gender dysphoria which is very wrong! As the definition of gender dysphoria is a strong discomfort with one’s assigned birth gender and does not much with their gender identity. Many people who believe you don't need dysphoria is what the community calls a “tucute” or a “transtrender”, a tucute believes you don't need dysphoria to be trans and transtrenders turn to be trans into a fashion style or think it makes them cool or special.
Tucutes turning things weird
Within this community of tucutes, many tend to attack others who do not agree with them, as well as saying that being Gay or Lesbian is some kind of fetish. The most often form of this is someone who isn’t Gay or Lesbian writing bad or even sketchy fanfiction or art on it. Many tend to make it seem that being LGBT makes you 100x better than anyone else who isn't LGBT and feel as if anyone else who isn’t LGBT should make themselves LGBT.
Dangers of Transition Without Dysphoria
Saying you do not need dysphoria to be transgender is promoting dangerous and harmful ideas. If someone who doesn't have dysphoria transitions (going on hormones/hormone blockers, surgeries..etc.) they will then experience dysphoria because they transitioned without having dysphoria in the first place. This can cause them to feel more uncomfortable, outcasted, and depressive because they altered their body when it was not needed. When they go through all the transitioning, many of the effects of hormones and allergies are irreversible.
Forcing Themselves In
Many people who aren’t inherently LGBT are currently trying to find any little way to push themselves into the community and create new micro labels every day. Many people who push themselves in make it seem as if you can choose to be LGBT which is very wrong as no one would choose to be trans as it is a stressful and depressing life as you are uncomfortable in your own body every day. No one would want to face discrimination or hate for who they are or whom they love. I understand, LGBT should be an accepting community but there comes a point where enough is enough.
A Final Note
As of recently, trump administration is making an effort to change the definition of sex. From what I’ve found, doing so can practically strip transgender people of their basic civil rights. And if you are a Transman and you are forced to keep a female marker on ID’s and documents, it makes it hard to travel, and vote. The rights we have has Transgender people are just the same as someone who isn’t transgender, changing the definition would make life even harder for transgender people everywhere.
I am pointing out some of the issues I see within our community, I fell that it is also important that we stand together against the people who are seeking to strip transgender people of their basic civil rights. Currently, only 18 states have laws that protect transgender people from discrimination. Without government protection, there could be legislation proposed and implemented by hostile state and federal legislation that will not continue to protect transgender people from discrimination whether it be in public, a workplace, or a school. Even with the government's protection and laws in place, last year there were 369 violent hate crimes resulting in death against members of the LGBT community that were REPORTED, while most go unreported due to fear and intimidation. It is important that we keep the government protect because without it, hate crimes and deaths in the LGBT community could skyrocket. That’s why when it comes to protecting human rights, it’s not just LGBT.
